Howdy Freddy :)

No, that is what I find in the ancient writings. But then again yes, I do have a person that I know which that page describes. But Freddy, I only have one friend and that is it. I am sixty yrs old and have gotten along in life very well with acquaintenances. So it is no crime or no reflection that something is wrong if a person does not have a friend. It is OK... :)

Thanks for writing.

Hello,

I was reading your page, "What Is A Friend?", and was surprised at the definition of "friend" that you gave. I thought that I was the only one (other than my husband) to have that definition, the only one to have only 'one or two' friends at a time.

I have worked at the same job now for three years, and I still have yet to call one person there 'friend'.

Don't get me wrong; they are wonderful people. There is not one I wouldn't trust with a problem, for instance, or holding or loaning money. I just prefer to consider them acquaintances.

Please feel free to e-mail me back.

"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. You are My friends IF YOU DO WHATEVER I COMMAND YOU. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; But I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you."

(Jesus, talking to 'His friends', His disciples, right before His death on the cross, His burial and His resurrection, and they wrote it down for us after His ascension to the right hand of His Father.)

What exactly is the reason for the page about friendships..to get others input on what they think a friend is according to scripture?? To see if people agree with scripture regarding friends??

I personally feel you can have friends that you have not talked to face to face..that anyone you communicate with and learn about their lives....share their happy and sad times with them through typing or telephone are friends of mine.

I feel differently about acquaintances...to me an acquaintance is someone I just talk to without much familiarity about their lives.

To me..you love your friends but you do not feel love for your acquaintences.

God is my friend and I love him..but I have never seen him face to face. I have learned about him through the written word..not from meeting face to face.

Just my opinion...it costs as much as it's worth. :)

Patti :)
