Ephesians 1:1-14 IN VERSE FOR SINGING

Tune: 8.7.8.7.D. "Hymn to Joy" (Ludwig van Beethoven, 1824)
Daniel E. Parks (3.24.02)

(1) All ye saints and all ye faithful / Sing aloud the welcomed word:
(2) Grace and peace, for which we're grateful, / Are bestowed from God our Lord.
(3) Let us bless the God and Father / Of our Master, Jesus Christ;
All the blessings from His coffer / Have our needs more than sufficed.
(4) Ere He set the worlds in motion, / To the glory of His Name,
In His Son we then were chosen /To be holy, without blame.
(5) He predestined His elected / To become adopted sons;
(6) In His Loved One we're accepted / As His own beloved ones.
(7) In the Christ we have redemption / Through the merits of His blood;
And our sins are all forgiven / Through the grace God has bestowed.
(8) God's rich grace is so abounding / With all wisdom and insight,
(9) It reveals a truth astounding / Which was once as dark as night.
(This great mystery through the ages / Of our fathers was concealed;
Now trough Christ, God in His grace is / Making it to us revealed):
(10) All in Christ our God shall gather – / Heav'n and earth shall be as one!
They in Christ shall stand together / To the glory of God's Son.
(11) By God's grand predestination / Which, of course, He must fulfill,
He has given saints possession / Of the things writ in His will.
(12) Jews who were Christ's first disciples / To His praise and glory are;
(13) Gentiles who were once their rivals / Now are coming from afar.
These have heard the proclamation / Of the Truth all should receive;
'Tis the gospel of salvation; / Having heard, they did believe.
They are sealed with God's own Spirit, / (14) Who is now the guarantee
Of the things they did inherit – / Praise our God eternally!
