GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH
HYMN OF GRACE
"I SAW THE LORD"
(Tune: Doxology - 88.88)
The year that king Uzziah died
While seraphim and angel cried;
And all did hide their face and blush
Thrice "Holy" made all creatures hush.
The Christ of God upon His throne
Exalted, worshipped, God alone!
By faith Isaiah clear did see;
And cried in wonder, "Woe is me!"
The King of God upon His hill,
His train did all the temple fill;
The One who drank the bitter cup
He saw so high and lifted up.
His glory does the whole earth fill;
And none can change or stop His will.
So with Isaiah my heart breaks
A sinner low my place I take.
I said, "I know myself unclean,
For with my eyes the King I've seen;
And now no room have I to boast
Before the might Lord of hosts."
But there upon the altar lay
A sacrifice consumed away.
The sacrifice of Him alone
Who now is seated on the throne.
Then from His throne one send did race
With news of mercy and of grace;
To say His sacrifice that day
Had taken all my sin away.
And now by faith this Christ I see,
Both Lord and Savior now to me.
To Him all praise and glory be
He saves and keeps eternally.
